"Sleeping in" exemplifies the kind of Drunken Soul Searching of their art core scene. the song tells the tale of a young partygoer who hooks up with Jesus for a weekend bender. the piece's Irreverent Content was a definite crowd pleaser. the rest of G.D. Idiot's set had the same sort of quality that "Sleeping in" had. the band's interpretation of pop songs such as George Michael's "Father Figure" made the songs seem new and wholly original. it is the band's frontman, Ann Elizabeth Gowan's, Unique Delivery that makes their sets stand out. The rest of the band plays the songs as the original artist did, while she gives the lyrics her own spin. this style can sometimes make the songs seem totally wrong, like during her rendition of Nine Inch Nail's "Closer", which she sings like a very happy lounge singer. "Our delivery is really the art," Gowan explains. "We want people to question what it is they enjoy about the music they listen to. I mean, what does it mean when I sing 'I want to be your father figure'? The song doesn't mean anything." with any luck, G.D. Idiot will be able to bring their concept to a wider audience. the band will be releasing a CD in the fall full of their signature covers and "Sleeping in on the Sabbath" will be released as their first Single soon after. if their popularity with the Art Pop set is any indication, they will be.
