Bay Bridge

Bay Bridge & Pier

One of the things that I love in photos are surface reflections. Clouds reflected off of metal, mirror images on the surface of water. I’m always delighted when I manage to capture details like that.

I took this picture on the San Francisco side of the Bay Bridge. I was eating lunch at a little pier-side greasy spoon and decided that I’d rally like a photo fo the bridge. I didn’t expect it to be the photo I like best of everything I’ve taken in the last three or four months, but there it is.

I love it. Because it’s black and white, it’s absolutely timeless. The photo could have looked identical if taken in 1937. The docks are obviously evocative of another time (and Marlon Brando movies). The reflection. Wonderful.

Was this taken at Red’s Java House?
